Shortly after college graduation, Irene started teaching at Sunshine Preschool where she found her love for watching children learn and grow during their early stages of life. She then moved on to teaching 1st grade at a private school in Los Feliz in Los Angeles for 5 years. Upon receiving her masters, she began teaching math and science at the junior high and high school level for 10 years while continuing to teach kindergarten in the summertime for a year-round school. Irene was very active as a full-time teacher; moderating student council and the academic decathlon team, coaching volleyball, and implementing a new science and theater program at each school.
In 2012 Irene started her own tutoring company, 123 Math and Reading, which provided tutoring for children of all ages. Irene is also a professional Polynesian dancer. She loves acting, singing, dancing and painting which she incorporates into her weekly program with her students at Rangeview.
Irene has two small children of her own and believes in quality care. One of her favorite quotes about children is from C.S. Lewis: “Children are not a distraction from more important work. Children are the most important work.”
Irene graduated from UC San Diego with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a minor in Theater. She also holds a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading.
